Nora's Story



Angela has changed my life in ways I never imagined were possible! That seems like a pretty bold (no pun intended) statement, but allow me to elaborate. I take after my father's side of the family and have always been fairly thin. Growing up I took ballet, which seemed to accentuate my willowy appearance. I've rarely been concerned about my diet, and never seemed to go above a size 4. That is, until I began to get closer to the age of 40! If this was what 39 held, the thought of turning 40 was horrifying.

While working as a Director of Property Management I was still able to maintain a size 4 wardrobe, but my fashion selections were becoming far looser and far more, conservative - can't show those saggy arms, rounded paunch or dimply legs! Sleeves and skirts got longer, trousers got looser! When the size 4s started to get tighter - I blamed it on fashion designers - "don't they know that we are not all shaped like sixteen year old girls and women have thighs and longer waists!" I may still have been thin, but trust me, cellulite on thin bones is still cellulite!

When I signed up with Angela in late February, my friends said, you're thin - why do you need a trainer! The honest answer was "vanity!" My stepdaughter was getting married in May, and if I were to wear a sleeveless dress and wave good-bye to the bride and groom at her wedding - I did not want the fat in my upper arms to wave back at me! I'd seen the results a friend had had with Angela in just a month's time, and I was game!

In my first communications with Angela, cute and tiny little thing that she is, she shared her similar experience. When you are small, people assume you are in shape - and you do too - until that dimply skin looks back from the mirror at you! Then you try to work out on your own and you have no stamina, strength or results and you say, "Well, when and how did this happen? I'm not fat, how can I be so out of shape." But Angela expressed nothing but support, encouragement, and confidence in my ability. And I began to look forward to our workouts together and the new things she would teach me.

It was not long before I found myself doing a double-take when I glanced in the mirror. My former body may not have been toned, but it was familiar - this one was not. Then the first day this Spring that was warm enough to wear shorts, I happened to glance down and notice the muscle tone in my thighs. I didn't recognize them! Then the compliments started rolling in. What a great feeling.

Don't get me wrong. I had my doubts at first. The thought of touching a dumbbell terrified me! Build muscle, no way! Arms should be sleek and flowing. How can you be sleek with muscle? Lift weights? Ladies don't do that sort of thing! Well, Ladies, you should! Start now and don't stop! It's good for your bones, your health and your overall well being - not to mention your attitude, your wardrobe and your romance! Let me tell you about SLEEK! My husband has bought my own weight bench for home!

Through my time with Angela, I've maintained my weight but converted it from 23% body fat to 16% body fat or in other words, increased my lean mass by 7%. I've developed muscle tone, a new routine in my life, a new confidence in myself and my body, a new spark in my thirteen-year marriage - and, alas, a new wardrobe with many, many sleeveless tops, short shorts, swimsuits - and, yes, those fashionable pants with tight thighs and low waistlines!! I haven't bought a bikini in 13 years!! Now not only can I wear that thirteen year-old one, I have three new ones! I don't just wear a size 4 anymore, now I shop at "5-7-9" (ask some teenagers, they'll know it). It's not about getting older, it truly is about getting wiser - taking care of yourself and feeling good every minute!

40 here I come!
